Setting and Map THE HOUNDS |
“So you know the basics of the situation in Saint Lawrence already, so I won’t patronise you by going back over that. Instead let me show you around, and give you the whistle stop tour of our fine city"
Here on The Hounds, we don't have a set plot as such for you to follow, that's all up to you traveler and whoever else you might encounter here. Instead we have what we like to call a Survival System and a mutual goal for every canine in the city – you guessed it – to survive another day. More on that later – I’m getting ahead of myself.
Now you’ve come in from the desert, so first you will hit the Western District. The city is currently split into four Districts, one for each point of the compass. In the past each of these areas has been controlled by various groups, but currently there is only one pack to the North and few smaller bands of canines scattered around the city.
There is a lot of tension between these groups, and also any loners in the city over the current food crisis. There is little to no life in the surrounding plains, and everyone is struggling to survive. Most hunt the small rodents and birds found in and around the ruins, and even fishing off the docks out of desperation, although the sea water is so polluted it is a risk to do so.
Many of the buildings are in various stages of collapse, and the further south you go the worse the damage. See for yourself – here’s a map of Saint Lawrence we managed to salvage a few years back:
